People only see what they want to see

I was supposed to learn English tonight. But the advertising staff called me and asked for my feedback on the artwork.

I rejected their first option.

Then they came back with the second option, which was much more to my liking. I was close to approval.

I felt thrilled a bit as it was the first time I approved an artwork from my agency after just two rounds.

That was quite strange, enough to make me somehow want to look at it again.

As for my agency staff, she insisted that the first artwork was better.

So I decided to take a close look at two artworks in an impartial way to make a comparison. This took a while.

And,

I found out that due to my bias for the first option, I subconsciously forced my mind into believing the next option would be better. Then, so as not to let my mind down, I tried to single out the good points in the second artwork.

I realized fine elements in the first artwork, and ... unsuitable elements in the second one.

=)))))

Well...

So what?

I traced back to the objective. Also, I refered to the brand's tone & mood to put me in the right mood for judging.

Then,

I decided to go with the first option but with some revision.

And at last, I delivered an up-to-my-expectation artwork.

Haha!

So,

by this I mean: the mind is really tricky! It leads us to "see what it wants to see". Therefore, be alert all the time! The objective is the guide. Always bear in mind the OBJECTIVE. It guides you to the right.
