There come times I feel stuck in my own life. Then I exert an effort to find the true meanings of things I do and constantly QC check if those things are in accordance with my core principles.
This task would be much easier if ceteris paribus. However, in reality, things keep changing every single day and so do the inputs that I need in order to analyze all the pros and cons of stuff in my life.
The struggle to comprehend ongoing life events and categorize them into valuable or nonsensical prints on soul bothers me for about every half year or a year. It requires me to stop for a while and look back on all the past activities and thoughts. Then, it asks me the classic question:
"Have you had your true callings so far?"
One day I happened to see this map on the Internet and started to look into it.
It is kind of a model by Japanese about purposes of life.
Now I try writing down using this model.
(I understand that things I write below will change in the immediate future :) I will get back to update new version right at the end of Lunar Year 2019)
1. Ikigai:
(blank because I haven't found out yet)
2. Mission - what I love & what the world needs
- I want to launch a website in which photographs (that I take on my own) about poor animals abused by cruel people and tortured by environmental pollution will raise awareness about animals rights
- I want to be a volunteer to areas around the world where animals need help
- I want to publish a book in which I could gather all the life stories, which I have been noting down whenever I meet or have thoughtful conversations with someone and make a gentle reminder for everybody to be mindful enough in their daily lives so as to truly live
- I want to share the book and its stories on a TED talk stage
- I want to spread out a message about parental love to the young gen X, Y and Z. I want to remind them to be aware of their parents tremendous and unconditional love and be quick to take action to show their gratitude and love to parents before it's too late
3. Vocation - what the world needs & what you can be paid for
- I have had a job in the field brand marketing and in the industry FMCG for 2 years now
4. Profession - what you are good at & what you can be paid for
- I am good at building marketing plans (marketing plans consist of analysis of data, assessment of brand performance, understanding of consumers and strategic solutions)
- I have been a private tutor of English, Business and Economics for secondary, high school and university students for 6 years now. This is just a partime job but this really utilizes my strenghs of knowledge, presentation, communication
5. Passion - what you love & what you are good at
- I love reading stuff about business strategy. I think I could think up business problems and solutions from an integrated point of views. Critical thinking and logical thinking in business always intrigue me a lot
- I love the idea of doing intensive research on something, presenting findings and proposals on slides or papers and then make an impressive presentation to enlight people on it
- I love writing things down to notebooks or on blogs. Writing is a way to assure that I am fully aware of life events and people around me
- I love reading books and I am definitely good at immersing myself in my room for days and weeks only to read
- I love enjoying any works of art ranging from fashion designs to pictures, music. I believe I have a flair for art. I could produce, enjoy and judge works of art considerably
So I am done with filling the Ikigai model. So what's next?
Haha actually I'm still thinking about an action plan. I will share in a later blog.
